The weather was still very windy when we woke up on Friday, our third day in Mexico.
It was obviously much more condusive to wind surfing the laying on a beach...
We started out at the Embacadero - we should have just lived there, and started having a traditional Mexican breakfast, some eggs with either chorizo or ham, and some black beans along with tortillas.
We got in the car after that and drove...
And hit many topays - little Mexican speedbumps.
It took a few hours but soon we found ourselves our in Tulum, a wonderful example of Mayan ruins that are right on the coast. Since we couldn't afford the trip to Chichen Itza, this was the next best bet, and in my eyes, it ended up being even better...
We were greeted by these guys in traditional Mayan costume...
And I saw a mini jaguar ;-)
And lots of beautiful scenery.
When we were getting into the park, we saw a tehone!
We also took the liberty of a photo op.
Then it was time to enter the park - and we couldn't have even imagined what we were about to see... (I'm not going to caption each picture after this point, I just want you to enjoy them)
Walking around in Tulum was a once in a lifetime experience, and I still can't believe I was there, and that I got to be so close to something that old!
After we were done, we made our way back to the parking lot and got side tracked for some coco frio.
It was so good I had two!
We were also lucky enough to see a traditional performance from Vera Cruz done on the grounds near Tulum. It's a form of pole dancing ;-)
So these guys climb on the top of this pole...
AND SWING DOWN UPSIDE DOWN! Kinda crazy if you ask me.
From Tulum we had a late lunch and went back on the long drive to Cancun. But our day wasn't done there. Aunt Mary wanted to take us for a night out on the town.
We started out at a dinner dance show in Cancun where they do all the different types of dances from Mexico -
The costumes are really beautiful.
I was dragged up there to do the "old man dance". He just thought I was hot, I can't blame him. I know I am.
At the end we were all invited up to dance!
And after there we went to a great Cuban place and had mannnnnyyyyy Mojitos.
