Cancun Mexico : Day One

Danny and I had a great last minute trip down to Cancun to visit his Aunt Mary. We were there from Wednesday to Sunday and have lots of great pictures and stories to share with everyone out there who gives a crap. I'll cronicle the trip here with some pictures and go day by day you lucky people.

Photobucket

It was 5am when Danny woke me up that Wednesday morning - I am NOT an early morning person. It was under 20 degrees outside.

Photobucket

But we were on to warmer weather during what was suppose to be the coldest week of the month. We were happily on our way to Philadelphia International Airport.

Photobucket

I also paid my "respect" to the Filthadelphia Eagles. (J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS)

Photobucket

We played in the airport as we waited for our plane to take off - Danny couldn't resist the Lego Liberty Bell. When we got on the plane, I put in my iPod and zoned out while listening to the Archers one of my favorite podcasts. Within 4 hours we were in another country - my 10th.

Photobucket

Soon we were in a warmer world waiting for our car to come pick us up to bring us to a waiting Aunt Mary.

Photobucket

But I was already in better spirits - I mean come on, I didn't even have to wear a jacket, it would be horrible if I wasn't in better spirits.

Photobucket

It was wonderful to see Aunt Mary, and she seemed happy to see us, even more so after Danny fixed both toilets in her house.

Photobucket

Danny also took this time to take some pictures throughout the condo and the view from it.

Photobucket

It's really a beautiful place.

Photobucket

Then the party started.

Photobucket

We walked down to the Embacadero for some predinner drinks. There we got to see some pirate ships...

Photobucket

I also took some time to play on the swings before I got a bit to tipsy.

We drank like fishes at the Embacadero and then made our way to downtown Cancun with the help of Luis - one of Aunt Mary's friends. La Placita is a great taco place in downtown Cancun. Unfortunately I forgot my camera but its ok, I was really to drunk to take any pictures. I will say though that the alcohol made me able to speak better Spanish, if anything in my own mind. But it did lower my inhibitions enough to be able to carry a quasi conversation and the little Mexican waiter was pretty impressed by either my Spanish or my boobs. I'll just try to pretend it's my Spanish.

Salem Mass: Day Four

This is the last post in my super great trip to Salem and some other parts of New England with Jess. My next post will probably be of my Mexico trip as I leave in a week. (Jealous??) So hope you've enjoyed this little thread so here you have it, the last day of our trip:

Photobucket

We started our day heading the long way home. After discussing it the night before and the day of, we chose to go to Newport, Rhode Island on the way home to Jersey. I'd never seen the town before and it had been quite a few years for Jess, so we were off.

What I didn't expect is for Jess to route me THROUGH Boston...

Photobucket

We definatly weren't in Kansas anymore...

Photobucket

And I wasn't to thrilled about driving through the big deal.

Photobucket

Jess obviously couldn't care less.

Photobucket

Photobucket

But it was my first time driving through any city so it was a big deal, and we got some great views of the new bridge they built.

We drove through the rest of Massachusetts and into Rhode Island where we stopped to fill up the car and to have a huge Arizona Sweet Tea (this comes into play later) and kept on our way.

Photobucket

As we got into the Newport area we saw a sign for Benny's (gotta love it)

And when we got into Newport we realized there wasn't much parking, and most of it was all parallel parking. Jessica talked me through it, and I parked for the first time ever doing a parallel parking thingy. Yeah.

Photobucket

I was pretty excited about that.

Now remember that can of Arizona ice tea? It decided that it was time to come out. I had to pee, I mean like a race horse. It was so bad that if I didn't get to a bathroom I was going to piss my pants. It was that bad.

What was even worse is we couldn't find a public bathroom, and when we finally found some, they were LOCKED and I was forced to use a porta potty.

Now if I have to pee, I HAVE to pee, and I had to use this porta potty, and let me just tell you, never did I have to hover and still feel dirty that I was in there.

Photobucket

The stench was so bad that I had to run out of there, where Jess was waiting or me with camera in hand.

Isn't she a WONDERFUL friend? I'm sure that'll be a card for some holiday... She has it out for me...

Anyway.

Photobucket

We did manage to do some shopping on the main drag of Newport, some of the shops are expensive, other not so bad, even though we didn't get our Newport sweatshirts :-(

Photobucket

We did eat at this great place called the Red Parrot. The lunch was fab, even though I didn't care to much for the roaming crotch waffles and the not so great service, but it was very busy. We had some shark bites there - little pieces of fried shark and it was really really good. I do recommend the Red Parrot, hopefully you don't have quite as many people there as we did.

Photobucket

I also had a chance to meet a very nice Newfoundland. (my favorite type of puppy)

Photobucket

Photobucket

And we had a nice few photo ops with the nice Newport background.

Photobucket

I stopped to smell the roses too!

Photobucket

Jessica disobeyed authority...

Photobucket

Photobucket

And Jess also tried to save a swimmer in the statue, "The Wave" in downtown Newport.

Photobucket

I had proof I was actually in Newport...

Photobucket

We saw a super old street light (we're nerds and we love it.)

Photobucket

And Oma was telling me she was glad I was traveling because a lady bug found me too.

And you may be wondering if we did anything else in Newport (pronounce it NEW POOOOOOOOORT by extending the O like the snobs do) And I'll be the first one to admit we shopped... alot. We did eventually though go see some more historic things:

Photobucket

We got to see the Breakers, which is larger then I ever thought.

Photobucket

And we were to cheap to pay to go through so we snagged a photo before you had to go to the kiosk to get tickets. Take that Newpoooooooooort.

Photobucket

We also took in the 40 steps and even walked up and down them.

Photobucket

It was pretty cool.

Photobucket

And we enjoyed taking in the perfect weather.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We also took some pictures on the rocks by the 40 steps so we could get the illusion of the waves coming to wash us away. Just so you know we waited to do this because a bunch of Chinese tourists kept getting in the way of the pictures, I was so ready to push them in the water and laugh at them. Yep.

Photobucket

Jess mentioned we should try the Cliff Walk, and she was totally right that it was worth every step.

Photobucket

There were lots of beautiful old buildings, including some from the Salve Regina College. Just so you all know that means Hello Queen in Latin, that should make Miss Blasi and Dr. Jackson really proud of me. At least I didn't sleep all through their classes...

Photobucket

Then we got to the other side of the Breakers and I totally understood where they got the name from, as I never knew it before. It was breath taking and may be one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in all my life.

Photobucket

There is just something about rocks and crashing water.

Then Jessica's eye wandered....

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

To surfers...

And I assure you there are SO many pictures she took of surfers, it's a good thing wetsuits when wet are difficult to come off, otherwise I couldn't be held responsible for her actions.

Sorry Chris - better get back on your board.

We had to wrap up the Cliff Walk, and took a few last photos...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And then we got back to the car and set off home, back to Jersey and headed over the bridge to take you out of Newport and saw our last lighthouse...

Photobucket

Photobucket

All in all I have to say it's one of the best trips I've taken in a long time and I can't wait to go to Boston in the summer where we'll also take in Cape Cod.
