Salem Mass: Day Three

Wow. Two posts in a day. I MUST be bored or just really diligent.

Photobucket

Where we last left off our two plucky travelers had tucked in for another night THINKING they were going to spend their Saturday morning in Salem visiting a few museums only to drive up to Maine for dinner to eat at Fox's. THIS was NOT to be. When we got our act together and got back into Salem we found that the sleepy town was no longer so sleep but was inundated with visitors and there was no parking. Jessica was not happy.

So we did what we could do - we kept going ready for a different adventure!

Photobucket

We found ourselves in Glouchester. This made Jessica VERY happy as Marky Mark was once in the town filming the Perfect Storm at one point.

We explored the little historic area of the town where there was a nice view of the water, the fishing boats...

Photobucket

A nice statue...

Photobucket

The names of all the fishermen lost at sea...

Photobucket

A hot dog cart (but the bastard guy stayed in his car so I didn't get a hot dog OR a hot pretzel!)

Photobucket

AND A BROWN PIGEON!

Photobucket

But a tour group of old people made me a little annoyed and made us spirit onward!

Photobucket

We bid farewell to Gloucester and all the fishermen...

Photobucket

We headed north and saw Nemo 2...

Photobucket

And wound up in New Hampshire!

Photobucket

We even took a picture of the signs with the old man in the mountain on them...

Photobucket

We drove through some of the beach towns in search of Portsmouth.

Photobucket

When we got to Portsmouth we had to feed the meter... and then we could do some tax free shopping!!

Photobucket

We stopped to take some pictures of the pumpkin men

Photobucket

And were offered (by some foreigners) to have our picture taken, this is the only one we have together from the whole trip.

Photobucket

We had a light snack of popovers in town and saw some red hat ladies...

Then we big goodbye to Portsmouth and continued on to Maine!

Photobucket

We even stopped at the sign for a photo op.

Photobucket

Then we stopped at a park in Kitty Maine and just kind of goofed around...

Because goofing around is really what we do best. And hey, if you're good at it you have to go with the flow.

And from this park in Kittery we got some great shots of three more lighthouses.

Photobucket

When we left the park we took a moment to take a picture of this slide going into the river - got to love Mainers

Photobucket

Hello! (I only put this picture in here because I look thin, and I like to look thin)

Photobucket

So we drove even further north to York, Maine where we were going to eat dinner at Fox's and see the Nuble lighthouse, that is until we saw that Fox's was CLOSED! They ended up closing earlier for the season. But Jess was still going to get pictures of her lighthouse.

Photobucket

I had all intentions of staying in the warm car until Jessica made me get out.

Photobucket

She may be smiling... but it was COLD outside. and very very windy.

Photobucket

And the lighthouse was even lit since it was getting dark. But we had other problems on our hands...

Where should we eat?

We drove around and around until I had to pee like a racehorse. We ended up stopping at a place called Bosn's' in York. Jessica said she didn't want to eat there, but my bladder said otherwise.

Photobucket

We were seated by some real Mainers (aka hicks) and I thought she would kill me, but when she was given two one pound lobsters for 18.99 - well she was very happy after that.

Photobucket

It was a great end to a busy day.
